Perez Morris has maintained a dedicated transportation and logistics practice since the inception of the firm. We have extensive experience representing domestic and global retail shippers with all types of transactional needs and representation involving, but not limited to 3PL, transloaders, warehouses, parcel post carriers, ocean carriers, airfreight forwarders, NVOCCs, brokers, intermodal carriers, contract carriers, delivery agents, and custom brokers. We represent interstate brokers and freight forwarders in all aspects of operations, which included a long-term secondment as a dedicated general counsel in support of operations, brand management, employment, claims handling and litigation. We have represented our clients in transportation in defense of serious injury and fatality claims and damage/loss cargo claims in state and federal courts. We are members of the Transportation & Logistics Council Association and the Columbus Region Logistics Council.
We also assist our clients in developing strong distribution, customs and logistics agreements, reasonable operating protocols and effective communication networks to support smooth supply chain operations and strong customer sales. Our experience with the Carmack Amendment, Carriage of Goods By Sea Act (COGSA), the Shipping Act, the Warsaw Convention, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act (FMCSA), state Department of Transportation laws, misclassification threats, and many other compliance issues proves essential to the creation of practical solutions in the complex and ever moving supply chain and logistics industry. With vast experience representing both shippers and carriers, Perez Morris holds a unique perspective on how to address issues and draft transportation provisions that are “win-win” while still accomplishing the goal of managing the risk of global operations. Our global reach has extended to Mexico, Canada, China, Hong Kong, and the European Union.
In an effort to efficiently and effectively meet business objections, logistics analytics software is a frequently used tool which requires attention to testing, implementation, security, confidentiality and disaster recovery. With business objectives to exceed benchmarks, enhance brand protection and strict adherence to the handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), we work with our clients to create successful mergers of logistics and technology.
While strong agreements lessen the need for litigation of claims, when needed, Perez Morris represents clients in the prosecution and/or defense of claims. For our clients in the trucking industry, we respond immediately to provide an accident investigation and coordinate preservation of evidence.
