Joe has been practicing law for over 20 years, with a focus on insurance defense litigation. Joe’s experience includes serving as counsel for two major insurance carriers handling both commercial and personal lines throughout Western Pennsylvania. His primary practice has focused on defense in all aspects of Pennsylvania’s Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Act, first and third party actions as well as bad faith suits, commercial trucking, premises liability, Dram Shop/liquor liability, commercial general liability. He also has significant experience with prosecution of subrogation actions and insurance fraud/special investigation unit matters.
Following his service with the Army’s Judge Advocate General Corps, Joe served as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Joseph Walko in the Beaver County Court of Common Pleas. Following this Clerkship, Joe started his litigation practice with a boutique insurance defense firm in Pittsburgh. Garnering experience as a seasoned trial attorney, Joe was asked by his largest client/carrier to open his own office and served as trial counsel for all Western Pennsylvania’s counties north of Allegheny County and south of Erie County for in excess of 10 years. Joe subsequently joined the Pittsburgh office of a large Pennsylvania defense firm headquartered out of Philadelphia where he continued an active litigation practice. Joe has tried and/or arbitrated in excess of 100 cases to verdict/award. He is regularly appointed as a statutory arbitrator, has served as a mediator in personal injury cases and has served as both moderator and lecturer in CLE presentations.
Joining Perez Morris in 2019, Joe will continue his practice in defense of carriers and clients in the Western Pennsylvania region and he looks forward to growing the office in the area where he is well known to the bench and bar.
